MEMORIAL DAY PLANTERS
WILL BE AVAILABLE
Last year we prepared a limited number of Memorial Day planters.  We will continue to introduce these collections for
customers who want to deliver a living memorial to the cemetery for the holiday weekend.
SEED SAVING SATURDAY - Saturday, September 8th

The Prairie Pedlar will be hosting our Seed Saver Saturday on September 10th. Visit the gardens and gather
ripened seeds for next summer's garden.  Participants should bring their own containers and markers to label
each variety. We will be in the garden to help identify flowers and recommend favorites that are easy to grow
from seed. The event will take place during regular shop hours of 11:00 AM through 4:00 PM. A free-will
donation will be appreciated and visitors are welcome to gather as many seeds as they wish. Bring a friend!
LUNCH & LEARN - Saturday, April 14

We are packing all of our enthusiasm for spring into one Lunch-n-Learn session from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the garden on
Saturday, April 14.  Participants are invited to enjoy exciting gardening demonstrations and discussions on both sides of a tasty
noon lunch. Last year’s feature, “Table Settings for Special Occasions” was so much fun, we are going to repeat with new and
different themes that will WOW participants. Come and enjoy entertainment details from floral centerpieces to party favors and
tabletop service.  Participation will include lunch and a $20 gift certificate that may be used at the greenhouse or gift shop on that
day or anytime in 2012.  A registration fee of $35 is required prior to the event to confirm meal reservations.

moonlight, candles, and thousands of white lights transform the

Give and Grow during the month of May
GARDEN RUN WAY SHOW - Saturday, April 28

The Prairie Pedlar will introduce their new plant lineups for 2012 at the premier launch of the first annual Garden Run
Way Show at the greenhouses on Saturday, April 28th at 11:00am. The Prairie Pedlar staff will showcase the newest
plants and their potential for the landscape and containers. Dozens of the hottest new plants in horticulture will rock the
runway during this new trendy floral fashion show program.  Come and be entertained and enlightened!
We will officially welcome Spring with our annual Spring Open House
on Saturday, May 5th. Enjoy Open House Specials and savings galore.
Come and see a very artful array of hanging baskets, one-of-a-kind
containers and our collections of herbs veggies and heirloom
tomatoes, annual flowers and hard to find perennials that will make
your yard the envy of the neighborhood.  For the sixth year in a row,
we will also be offering a nice variety of ‘quick turn’ flowering shrubs
that start small but develop quickly into focal points in the yard.

Even if your thumb isn’t green, you will want to come and see what’s
new look in the gift shop(s). The Nesting Place is a favorite stop for
bird lovers. Birdhouses and birdbaths in all shapes and sizes are mixed
with bird feeders, stakes, statues and all things with a feathery flair.
The Potting Shed is lined with empty pots for filling, garden tools, chimes, and garden gear of all kinds. The Picker’s Place is a
showcase for all of the recycled garden “junque” that adds whimsy and charm to the garden landscape.  Peek inside the drying
shed to see bundles of dried flowers and twig wreaths waiting for crafty hands. Outside, the rest of the merchandise is
sprinkled between floral displays and garden walks along the greenhouses. Planters, wire ware, garden iron, benches and
statuary fill the space and provide the eye candy that makes a visit to the Prairie Pedlar a memorable trip!
Throughout the month of May, the Prairie Pedlar will continue its fundraising program called Give & Grow.
Our goal is to provide an alternative way to help local civic clubs, schools, churches, and other community
and non-profit organizations earn cash for a cause. Last year, a donation of
$620.56 was made to the
Horn Memorial Hospital’s fundraising efforts for a new digital mammography machine. Again this year, the
Prairie Pedlar will give qualifying organizations back 10% of every dollar spent at the garden by
participating customers. Each organization will be responsible for distributing their own personalized
Prairie Pedlar discount coupons to anyone and everyone who might like to participate in this program this
spring. At the garden, shoppers will discover six greenhouses and four sheds filled with gifts for the
gardener and accents for the garden.  Upon checking out, customers should present their Give & Grow
discount coupon to our cashier, and it’s done!  The Prairie Pedlar staff will take care of the rest, tallying
totals at the end of the month.  A check will be issued to each organization’s treasury by June 10th.
Participants are welcome to make multiple purchases throughout the entire month of May, using a new
coupon at each visit.  We look forward to helping each organization achieve its fundraising goals.  If you
are looking for a fast and easy way to earn money, call 712-668-4840 to enroll your organization today.
