|Our enthusiasm for the spring season might be contagious! If you are feeling an itch to play in
the dirt or have developed a spring fever that will not subside, you have all the symptoms. A trip
to the Prairie Pedlar is a perfect cure!
The year 2020 will be remembered for a very long time! The pandemic we have endured will be written about and taught in schools,
recording a bleak chapter of our American history. While there was a lot to fear, there was also plenty of free time to dream and plan, and
there was hope when the seed catalogs arrived in the mailbox! We are excited to open the 2021 gardening season with optimism and great
expectations. Our calendar of events is nearly full again and it is a joy to know that families will be gathering together to celebrate.
I’ve always said that gardeners are the most optimistic people on the planet – why else would they put a seed in the ground if they didn’t
anticipate it would grow? And that’s where we’re at with grass seed! Last fall, we tilled up the grass area in the Sanctuary Garden,
contoured the soil bed, added an awesome new sidewalk aisle and then reseeded the grass with LOTS of grass seed! Some timely spring
showers have helped the germination process, and some hints of green are just beginning to peek through – another sign of hope (and
great relief!) We are encouraged and renewed with the optimism that gardening offers each spring. Use this year to sow your own seeds -
seeds of kindness and understanding – seeds of compassion and joy. May your gardening days ahead be sprinkled with heartwarming
surprises, showered with peace and contentment, and blessed with rainbows of promise. That is the kind of normal we look forward to!
